Super Rugby Rd 12: Brumbies v Lions
- 884
Lions edged out a tight encounter with the Brumbies 13-6 in Canberra. Brumbies had most of the possession in the first half but a strong Lions defence and some errors going forward gave the home side a 3 point lead at the break.
The Lions, who were not at their best, drew level 10 minutes into the second half after a penalty from Jantjies. The breakthrough finally came minutes later after a loose pass from Brumbies fullback Toua fell into the hands of Mapoe and then Kwagga Smith showed some great acceleration to score from inside his own half.
The Brumbies had opportunities in the final 20 to get back into it but they couldn't find a breakthrough bar a Hawera penalty. The Lions get their 10th win of the season while it's a 4th consecutive loss for the Brumbies, who remain top of the Australian conference.
