Super Rugby Rd 11: Hurricanes v Stormers

The Hurricanes ran out 7 try winners today against a brave Stormers outfit who fell to their 4th consecutive defeat. Hurricanes ran in 3 tries in the opening 25 minutes with Cory Jane, Jordie Barrett and Julian Savea crossing over. Jordie Barrett's try wonderfully finished as he showed great awareness. His Brother, Beauden Barrett, was pulling the strings with some lovely kicks in play and the home side were cruising.

Stormers were brought down to 14 men after hooker Mbonambi was sent to the bin but his replacement Samuels brought the Stormers back into it with a driving maul to make it 17-10.

The Canes added another try before half time as Jordie Barrett added his second try, Beaduen Barrett's chip linking into his brothers arms. SP Marais brought the Stormers back into it with 2 penalties to make the score 22-16. It was level after 50 minutes as the Marais' boot was flawless. With both teams going toe to toe, Hurricanes' Laumape broke through the Stormers defence to score in the corner.

The Stormers came back and were putting constant pressure on the Hurricanes line, however after a loose ball the Canes pounced and ran from one side of the pitch to the other and Laumape got his second of the evening. In the final play Beauden Barrett added a 7th try to finish the rout but it was a flattering scoreline for the Hurricanes who remain unbeaten at home.
