The Chiefs edged the Blues in the Battle of the Bombays with a thrilling 33-29 home win in round 9 of Super Rugby. The Blues opened the scoring with an early penalty, but the Chiefs went over for two tries to build a 14-3 lead. The Blues hit back on the stroke of halftime with their first try to trail 14-10 at the break. An early second half try extended the Chiefs advantage, but the Blues responded with their second score to head into the final quarter trailing 21-15. The Chiefs took control again with their fourth try, but once again the Blues hit back shortly after with a score to once again trail by six points at 28-22 with a little over ten minutes to play. The sea-saw battle continued as another Chiefs try saw the hosts take charge at 33-22. The Blues crossed for a late try to set up an tense finish, but the Chiefs held on to make it 15 matches unbeaten against the Blues in Super Rugby.
