With less than 10 months to go to the Rugby World Cup hosts France welcome holders South Africa to Marseille on Saturday.

Here's a look a few stats and facts ahead of their Autumn Series Test.

1. France beat Australia 30-29 at the Stade de France last Saturday to stretch their winning run to 11 matches thanks to a late try by Damian Penaud.

2. Jesse Kriel is the only player in the Springboks squad who has scored more than one try against France. He is currently on three tries

3. Siya Kolisi holds the most Test caps against France in the Springbok squad, with six Tests played.


4. The Springboks and France will clash for the 45th time on Saturday.

5. The first clash between the two proud rugby-playing nations took place on 11 January 1913 when South Africa won 38-5 at Parc Lescure in Bordeaux.


6. In the 44 Tests played to date, South Africa have won 27 with France emerging victorious on 11 occasions. There has been six draws.

7. Eben Etzebeth is the second most capped Springbok lock with 107 Tests.

8. The Springboks are on a seven-Test win streak against France.

9. In all previous Tests, South Africa have amassed 939 points while France have scored 662 for an average final score of 21-15.

10. The Boks' last defeat came almost exactly 13 years ago in 2009 when France won 20-13.

11. If France win against South Africa in Marseille and Ireland fail to beat Fiji then Les Bleus will go to number one in the rankings for the second time, having briefly occupied top spot for a week in July 2022.
