Springboks return to training

After a Covid-19 scare last week, the Springboks have been given the green light to return to the training pitch.
The team did not train yesterday or on Sunday after a round of testing returned three positive results.
South Africa is currently in the grip of a troubling third wave of Covid-19 which may well alter the British & Irish Lions tour schedule.
The Springboks are set to face Georgia on Friday evening in the first test they will play since the World Cup final in 2019.
SA Rugby have released the following statement:
"Three players tested positive for Covid-19 on Sunday following real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests on arrival at the team hotel in Johannesburg. However, Herschel Jantjies has subsequently been cleared and can return to training.
"In light of this, as well as the strict precautionary measures taken by the team and the effective isolation protocols since the squad assembled, the Springboks can resume their training programme from Monday afternoon."
