Wales completed an outstanding second half comeback to edge France 24-19 in the opening game of the Six Nations Championship. France got off to the perfect start with an early try giving them a 5-0 lead. Both sides then missed penalties before Wales were denied a try after a TMO call as they lost it forward in the grounding. France then crossed for their second try to extend their advantage to 10-0. Wales had another opportunity to get on the board, but missed their second penalty attempt. A French penalty extended the hosts lead before a perfectly struck drop goal made it a three score ball game at the break with France up 16-0. Wales got on the scoreboard with an early second half try before a horrendous French error at the back gifted the visitors a second score to reduce the deficit to just two points at 16-14. France missed an opportunity to extend the lead after missing a penalty halfway through the second half. A few minutes later Wales slotted a penalty to edge in front 17-16 and lead for the first time in the match. With just under ten minutes remaining, the hosts regained the lead with a penalty, but Wales hit back almost immediately with an intercept try giving them a 24-19 advantage. An intense finish followed, but Wales held on for a brilliant come from behind victory to get their Six nations Campaign off to the perfect start.
