Ospreys Rugby have announced Scott Otten as the latest player to sign a new deal with the region.
The 24-year old hooker follows in the footsteps of his old Pentrehafod Comprehensive School, Waunarlwydd RFC, Swansea RFC and Ospreys age-grade team-mate, Nicky Smith, who also put pen to paper on a new contract last week.
A product of the Ospreys development pathway, Otten featured regularly for Swansea RFC in the Premiership, playing 26 times for the All Whites between 2012 and 2014.
It was in March 2014 that he made his Ospreys debut at the age of 19 as a replacement in a 34-9 win over Cardiff Blues at the Liberty Stadium. His 50thappearance came in September 2017, away to the Cheetahs, and he has now played 88 times for the Ospreys, scoring seven tries, having featured on 21 occasions in each of the last two seasons as he cemented his place as a key figure in the squad.
Head Coach, Allen Clarke commented:
“Scott is someone who has played a lot of rugby for us this season. He’s another talented local boy who’s passionate about the region. He’s young, with enormous potential to progress further in the game. We want to see him really kick on over the next two years to achieve that potential.
“I’m expecting to see him competing with Sam Parry, Ifan Phillips and young Dewi Lake to be the number one choice for the hooker’s jersey.”
