- 1071
Saracens got their Champions Cup campaign off to a strong start with a win over Glasgow Warriors.
The defending Premiership Champions ground out 3-13 away win in a tight game that was ruled by defence.
Here are Top Performers from the clash:
Maro Itoje - Saracens
Itoje, on the back of his first start following injury, slotted perfectly into blindside flanker. Saracens were dominant up front with a functioning lineout out and stable scrum giving Owen Farrell a strong platform to work off. Itoje put in a superb defensive shift winning three turnovers.
Michael Rhodes - Saracens
Similarly to Itoje, Rhodes was the epicentre of a dominant Saracens pack where he carried powerfully and made the hard yards when given the opportunity. The openside flanker crossed for the only try of the game and gave Saracens a strong foothold into the game.
Jonny Gray - Glasgow Warriors
The tackling machine produced yet another defensive masterclass making 21 tackles and missing just one today.
Gray featured prominently on defence with both sides giving little away in this area throughout the 80 minutes.
Owen Farrell - Saracens
Farrell gave a strong performance from outhalf and controlled the game perfectly at times especially when the visitors were struggling. Clever kicks to the corner combined with a solid distribution game allowed Saracens to control the pace of the game and hold out for victory.
