RG Snyman's Munster return further delayed
- 2620
RG Snyman is set to miss the remainder of the year as his battle to regain fitness continues.
In their latest injury update, Munster stated that Snyman had a routine consultation with his surgeon last week and following the review, the lock is not expected to be available for selection before the end of December.
The World Cup winner has featured just four times during his two-year spell at the Irish Province with successive serious knee injuries, keeping him on the sidelines since October of 2021.
In October there were reports that Snyman could make his return to the Springboks squad this November but those hopes were quickly dashed.
Snyman ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament just three games into his comeback from an identical injury, which had seen him sidelined for 13 months.
The province have now confirmed his potential return has been pushed back by up to two more months, after a consultation with his surgeon.
Elsewhere, Tom Ahern was ruled of involvement in this week’s Ireland ‘A’ fixture as he waits to meet with the specialist for a shoulder injury sustained against Leinster. Niall Scannell was removed for a HIA during Saturday’s Round 7 encounter and will undergo return-to-play protocols.
Munster's Rehabbing Players: RG Snyman (knee), Jack Daly (knee), Paddy Kelly (head), Keith Earls (thigh), Andrew Conway (knee), Fineen Wycherley (shoulder), Antoine Frisch (calf), Jack O’Sullivan (knee), Stephen Archer (ankle), Tom Ahern (shoulder), Jean Kleyn (ribs), Liam Coombes (hamstring).
