PRO 14 Highlights: Edinburgh Rugby v Southern Kings
- 1556
A promising performance from the Kings as they played 68 minutes with 14 men, 27 minutes with 13 and 10 minutes with 12 men. The visitors got on the board first with a try from Erich Cronje but a risen elbow in the carry from Pieter Scholtz saw the prop given his marching orders. Mike Willemse then got one against his former side as Edinburgh edged in front. Jackson put the Kings back in front from the tee in 25th minute but it didn't last long as Duhan van der Merwe and Matt Scott dotted down to to give Edinburgh a 19-8 lead. Jackson grabbed a try before the break as Edinburgh lead 19-13 at half time. That would be the last contribution the Kings made to the scoreboard as James Johnstone scored 4 minutes into the second half. The Kings kept Edinburgh quiet until the 67th minute despite being down to 13 men after another De-Jay Terblanche was unable to continue for the Kings and they didn't have another replacement. The try in the 67 minute was a penalty try with Ashton Fortuin being sent to the sin bin. Edinburgh took full advantage with Sau, Cherry, Shiel and Bennetton scoring to claim the comprehensive 61-13 win.
