Former Wallabies flyhalf Matt Giteau looks as if he may play one more season of rugby despite saying that 2020 would be his final year as a professional.
The Sydney Morning Herald reports that the 103 test cap former Wallaby is set to join fellow Wallaby legend Adam Ashley-Cooper in the Major Rugby League in America.
The pair have been linked to a move to the new MLR franchise, the LA Giltinis, in Los Angeles.
The second season of MLR was abandoned due to the global pandemic with the third season set to kick off next February. The competition has already attracted big names with Springbok Tendai 'Beast' Mtawarira (Washington DC), All Black Ma'a Nonu (San Diego), France's Mathieu Bastareaud (New York) and England's Chris Robshaw (San Diego) all heading to America.
Australians Darren Coleman and Stephen Hoiles have been brought in as the LA Giltinis' coaches and the side could add the 103-Test playmaker to their Australian contingent.
Giteau announced earlier this year his time with Japanese Top League side Suntory had come to an end as a result of COVID-19 and indicated that 2020 would be his final year as a pro.
Giteau and Ashley-Cooper could face off against fellow former Wallaby Drew Mitchell has also reportedly agreed to play in the tournament for Rugby United New York.
