ACT Brumbies fly-half Noah Lolesio has signed a one-year extension to remain with the Canberra-based club and Rugby Australia, till the end of 2025.
Moving to Canberra in 2018, Lolesio featured for the Tuggeranong Vikings in the John I Dent Cup and the Canberra Vikings in the National Rugby Championship.
Since then, the 2018 RUPA Australian Schools Rugby Union (ASRU) Scholarship recipient and Brumbies Academy product has gone on to feature in 64 appearances for the ACT franchise since making the shift to Canberra.
Lolesio made his Super Rugby debut for the Brumbies in 2020, starting at fly-half in a 27-24 win over the Queensland Reds at GIO Stadium. Before clinching the Super Rugby AU title at the end of the COVID affected season.
He would go on to make his international debut later that year, where he has amassed 17-test caps for the Wallabies to date.
The ACT Brumbies fly-half reflected on his time in the Capital saying, “Canberra certainly feels like home for me and it’s the best place to continue to grow as a player and a person on and off the field.
I’m grateful to have my future sorted for next year and want to thank the Brumbies and Rugby Australia for their ongoing support.”
The 24-year old has played a pivotal role in the club's charge into this Friday's 2024 Super Rugby Pacific Semi-Final against the Blues in Auckland. The sharpshooter is the second highest point scorer in the competition with 140 points in 14 appearances, including a goal kicking percentage of 84.1%.
Safeguard Global ACT Brumbies Head Coach Stephen Larkham is delighted with Lolesio's re-signing.
"We’ve got a really special group of players at the moment and we are quite pleased to have Noah continue his journey with the Brumbies as we build something special here in Canberra."
"He has been an integral part of our squad since making his debut in 2020. The playing group, support staff, Members and fans will be excited of the news heading into this week's Semi-Final against the Blues," said Larkham.
“The next period in Australian Rugby presents some once-in-a-career opportunities and I’ll be working hard to give myself the best possible chance to be a part of them but for now my focus is on finishing off the Super Rugby Pacific season in a positive fashion.”
The Safeguard Global ACT Brumbies face the Blues at Eden Park, Auckland this Friday, June 14 for a spot in the 2024 Super Rugby Pacific Grand Final.
