Gloucester Rugby is pleased to reveal the signing of hooker, Morgan Nelson, who joins with immediate effect.
Born and raised in Ross-on-Wye, Nelson is a Gloucester fan and grew up watching the Cherry & Whites from The Shed. He played junior rugby at Ledbury and then Hereford, whilst attending John Kyle High School and then Hartpury College, all whilst rising through the ranks of the Gloucester Rugby Academy, playing alongside the likes of current Cherry & Whites Jack Reeves and Jack Clement.
Nelson left the Gloucester Rugby Academy and moved to Cardiff Met University, where he spent four years, combining his studies with playing in BUCS Super Rugby and the WRU Championship for the Archers.
He's played for Cornish Pirates since the 2021/22 season and had scored an impressive 26 tries in 41 appearances for the club before the start of the current season.
Nelson may get the chance to take on his former team in November when the Cherry & Whites host Cornish Pirates at Kinsgholm in the premiership Rugby Cup.
We can today confirm hooker @MorgieNelson has joined @gloucesterrugby on a permanent deal with immediate effect. The front rower amassed an incredible 2️⃣9️⃣ tries in 4️⃣9️⃣ games for the Pirates and we wish him the very best for the future.

Gloucester Rugby Director of Rugby, George Skivington, commented:
"Morgan knows the Club well having come through the Academy here and will no doubt settle in well.
"We know there's plenty of talent in the Championship, and Morgan is hungry to be the next to step up and make a name for himself in the Premiership."
Nelson added:
"It's a privilege to be back at Kingsholm. Spending some time in the Academy here when I was a youngster, the dream was always to pull on the Cherry & White at Kingsholm.
"I feel like I've developed a lot as a player and a person from my time at both Cornish Pirates and Cardiff Met and I'm ready to make the step up and test myself at the next level.
"I'm really grateful for the opportunity and I'm looking forward to getting started."
