Mike Phillips is set to retire at the end of the season

Former Wales and Lions scrum-half Mike Phillips has announced - via his personal twitter account - that he will retire from professional rugby at the end of the season.

The 34-year-old made 94 appearances for Wales and represented the British and Irish Lions on five occasions before retiring from international rugby in 2015.

Phillips started his professional career with Llanelli before joining Cardiff Blues in 2005 and later Ospreys in 2007. He moved to French side Bayonne in 2011, before moving to Racing 92 two years later - he currently plays for Sale Sharks in the Premiership.
