McNally signs contract extension

Josh McNally has agreed a new one-year deal to remain at Cardiff Rugby for the 2026-27 season.
The second-row is unavailable for Friday night’s BKT United Rugby Championship clash with DHL Stormers but he has pledged himself to Blue & Black for another campaign.
McNally has established himself as a key figure since arriving in the Welsh capital from Bath in 2024.
He has regularly deputised for Liam Belcher as captain and has followed in the footsteps of the hooker in signing a new contract.
Cardiff Rugby head coach Corniel van Zyl is delighted to retain the services of the RAF weapons technician for another year and has hailed the impact he has made at the Arms Park.
Leading by example
Van Zyl said: “Josh has been a really important player for us so we are delighted that he is going to stay for another season.
“His move to Cardiff has almost given him another lease of life and he still has plenty of hunger to keep pushing forward as a player and as part of the group.
“On the pitch, his performances have been top notch, and with the injuries we have had, he has probably played more than any of us expected but he has been very effective and very durable.
“Then off the pitch, he has been a key leader in the group, someone who is continually looking to drive standards, while putting in a lot of work behind the scenes for the benefit of the playing group.
“He will continue to be an important figure for us, while setting standards and passing on his vast experience.”
McNally has made 42 appearances for the Blue & Blacks and scored two tries in the process.
He has credited his move to Cardiff for reigniting his love for rugby and he is determined to give his all for another season as the club continue to build.
One more year!
The 35-year-old said: “One more year! How could I possible say no?
“I feel incredibly grateful to be extending my time with Cardiff Rugby. This club and its fans have given me more over the last two seasons than I could have ever imagined.
“To be able to play at the Arms Park for another year is an absolute privilege. There’s nowhere I’d rather be.
“We have grown and improved again this season, there is huge potential here and a group that works extremely hard.
“With next season marking 150 years of this great club, it’s a hugely significant milestone. After what’s been an uncertain period, I’m really excited about moving forward together, into such an important year and continuing to grow both on and off the pitch.
“My commitment to the Royal Air Force continues. My entire career was shaped by the RAF, and I wouldn’t have 14 years in the game without them and I appreciate all the support they give me.
“I’d also like to take the opportunity to thank my wife Sarah. Being able to come in every day and do something I love, wouldn’t be possible without her unwavering support.”
