Massive clash at the AJ Bell: Sale vs Exeter
- 1634
In what could be the game of the round, Sale Sharks travel to Sandy Park to take on the Exeter Chiefs.
Exeter just managed to edge out Northampton Saints in the previous round 29-26 at Franklin’s Gardens. A gutsy performance from the home side saw the defending champions having to dig deep to achieve their victory.
Sale did the business against Harlequins at the AJ Bell in ruthless fashion as the former crushed their soon-to-be fellow semi-finalists 45-12.
Exeter will be sure to throw everything they have at their keen opponents this weekend as the former trail log-leaders Bristol Bears by just 3 points at present, meaning that they could conceivably ascend to the top of the table should London Irish upset Pat Lam’s charges.
Sale currently occupy third spot on the log and are out of reach of fourth-placed Harlequins but are five points adrift of Exeter, meaning they could possibly draw level with the latter should they post a bonus-point win.
Sale managed to put one over on the Chiefs last time they met in Round 11 of the current competition.
