Mark McCall to take short break from being Director of Rugby at Saracens

Saracens have confirmed that Director of Rugby Mark McCall will be taking a short break from his role at the club for medical reasons.

In a statement, the club announced the news saying:

"People will always come first at our club and Mark will be given all of the support and time he needs.

"Meanwhile we would ask that everyone respects Mark’s privacy. Mark is obviously more than confident in the coaching team he has worked with for many years to temporarily take the reins."

The 54-year old joined Saracens at the start of the 2009/10 season as First Team Coach and in that first season, helped guide the club to their first Premiership final.

McCall continued coaching the club despite Saracens' relegation to the Championship for the 2020/21 season, due to salary cap breaches.

Last year, he signed a new deal to remain at the club for at least a further four years.
