Mark Hammett to step down as Highlanders assistant coach

It has been confirmed that Highlanders assistant coach Mark Hammett will step down from his role at the conclusion of Super Rugby Aotearoa.

Hammett, who played for the All Blacks between 1999 and 2003, joined up with the Highlanders in 2017 after having worked with teams such as the Crusaders, Canterbury, Hurricanes, Tasman Makos, Japan and the Cardiff Blues.

"There have been no decisions on what I will do," said Hammett.

"I love coaching and mentoring and that side of it. I'll do something but the decision hasn't been made yet."
