Leicester Tigers scrum-half David Mele has been suspended for one week in the wake of his red card against Bath last Saturday.
At last night’s RFU disciplinary hearing, held in Coventry, the 28-year-old Frenchman pleaded guilty to the charge of stamping on Bath lock Dave Attwood.
The incident happened in the 77th minute of the game at The Rec.
After the game, Tigers director of rugby Richard Cockerill described the decision, made by referee Wayne Barnes, as the “softest red card I had ever seen”.
Mele will miss Saturday’s visit from London Irish and is free to play again on September 30.
