Jed Holloway suspended for 3-weeks following his red against the Sharks
- 2212
The Waratahs will be without the services of second rower Jed Holloway for three weeks, including two their games in South Africa against the Bulls and Lions, after he plead guilty for contravening Law 9.12: A player must not physically abuse anyone, after he was Red Carded during the Waratahs loss to the Sharks in Sydney.
Holloway was left out of the Waratahs' touring squad that left for South Africa on Sunday and will also miss the Australian derby against the Reds on 18 May.
The incident occurred in the 45th minute of the match between the Waratahs and Sharks. The second rower threw his elbow back in du Toit’s direction, connecting with his head, after the tighthead grabbed the back of the Waratah's jersey - du Toit was shown a yellow card for his actions which led to Holloway's retaliation.

The SANZAAR Foul Play Review Committee of Adam Casselden SC (Chairman), Stefan Terblanche and Eroni Clarke assessed the case.
In his finding, Foul Play Review Committee Chairman Adam Casselden SC ruled the following:
"Having conducted a detailed review of all the available evidence, including all camera angles and additional evidence, including from the player and submissions from his legal representative, Aaron Lloyd, the Foul Play Review Committee upheld the Red Card under Law 9.12."
"With respect to sanction the Foul Play Review Committee deemed the act of foul play merited a mid-range entry point of 6 weeks due to the World Rugby instructions that dictate any incident of foul play involving contact with the head must start at a mid-range level. However, taking into account mitigating factors including the Player's clean judicial record, the Player's expressed remorse and the fact the Player has pleaded guilty at the first available opportunity, the Foul Play Review Committee reduced the suspension to 3 weeks."
"The player is therefore suspended for 3 weeks, up to and including 18 May 2019.”
