Jake Ball escapes punishment for dangerous clearout on Faf de Klerk

Wales and Scarlets lock Jake Ball has escaped a citation for his dangerous clear out on Sale Sharks' scrumhalf Far Faf de Klerk during the Champions Cup round of 16.

The Springbok scrumhalf was preparing to launch a box kick with his hands placed on the ball at the back of a ruck before being flattened by the Scarlets star.

The TMO and match referee Mathieu Raynal examined the incident but found that the act did not warrant foul play despite Ball making contact with Klerk's head.

A citing commissioner has a 50-hour deadline for lodging a citing with that window no closed, it means that no action will be taken against the Wales lock.

When contacted by WalesOnline, a EPCR spokesman said: “I can confirm there has not been any citing of Jake Ball from the Scarlets-Sale Sharks Heineken Champions Cup match on Sunday.”
