Italy v England | Winners & Losers
- 1267
Italy sprinted out of the blocks as they put together some incredible attacking play in the opening 40 minutes but were unable to stitch together another good 40 as England mounted a winning comeback.
Here are the winners and losers from the game
Winners:
Italy's First 40:
Italy put on a show in the first half scoring a couple of great tries and keeping England out. Their attacking play was a pleasure to watch but their defence and specifically their maul defence was a stand out.
Ethan Roots:
Roots, making his England debut, put on a Man of the Match performance as he helped England to a come from behind win. Eight Tackles, Seven Carries and an important turnover for the Exter man.
Henry Slade:
Slade, having returned after being dropped for RWC2023, made a statement with some good plays in the game. He showed his experience at 13 and when Ollie Lawrence returns for England the midfield will become potent
Losers:
Italy's Line Outs:
Italy lost three of their 12 line out's which stunted their attack. It is a place they need to work on with England contesting a lot and either stealing it or creating poor ball for the home side.
Ruck Speed:
Italy suffered with some poor ruck speed on attack with 24% of their rucks last six seconds or more while just 50% of them were under 3 seconds
