- 1229
Exeter Chiefs and Saracens have, over the last few seasons, been the benchmark in the Premiership and face off in the 2018/19 Final for what will be another installment in an epic rivalry.
Defence:
Exeter, in round 10, restricted Saracens to their 2nd fewest running meters gained in a Premiership game this season conceding just 5 line breaks in the game. Both Saracens (1st) and Exeter (2nd) lead the Premiership in least tries conceded with Saracens comfortably the best of the two in line breaks conceded.
Attack:
Chiefs lead the Premiership with Average Tries scored per game with 4.1 followed closely by Saracens on 3.6 per game but the order is reversed for Average Points per game with Saracens ranked 1. Saracens start each half stronger but Exeter finish each half stronger on average over the season.
2018/2019:
In May this year Saracens secured a bonus point win against Exeter running in 5 tries winning 38-7. Lewington (2), Morris (2) and Tompkins all over the whitewash
In December last year Exeter took the honours with a 31-13 win with tries from Cowan-Dickie, Williams, Kvesic and a penalty try after a powerful driving maul was brought down by Schalk Burger.
2017/18:
Saracens cruised to the Premiership title at Twickenham last season after Earle, Billy Vunipola and a brace from Chris Wyles guided them to a 10-27 win
In March 2018, Exeter again won the home fixture and with a penalty try but this time off a dominant scrum. Joe Simmonds was instrumental in the victory with 4 penalties as both sides scored 2 tries on the day.
In November 2017 Exeter were the last side to record and away victory between these two sides. A Gareth Steenson conversion off a Moray Low try in the 74th minute bagged the 18-20 win for Chiefs at Allianz Park.
