Hurricanes move top of the ladder

The Hurricanes have extended to five matches their winning start to the Super Rugby season, claiming a hard-fought victory over the Highlanders in Dunedin.

The result put the Hurricanes top of the table, although the Brumbies can go back above them with victory against the Waratahs in Sydney on Sunday.

The visitors had to graft for the win after monopolising territory for the first hour but coming up against a committed defence.

It wasn't until the 48th minute, with the score at 3-3, that they got over the try line - and it took 18 phases before prop Reg Goodes burrowed over.
