Hurricanes captain out of Super Rugby Aotearoa

It’s bad news for renowned All Black flanker and Hurricanes captain Ardie Savea as the 27 year old was given the news that he has sustained a significant MCL injury and will be out of rugby for the next six to eight week, which will, therefore, see him take no further part in New Zealand’s Super Rugby Aotearoa competition.

The injury occurred during the Canes’ agonising, 3-point loss to the Crusaders in Wellington over the weekend. On the bright side, however, it seems possible that Savea could be fighting-fit for the All Blacks’ international schedule against Fiji kicking off in July.

Although sustaining the injury shortly after half-time, Savea continued to play on until he was substituted in the 61st minute.

“Unfortunately on the weekend I did my MCL so that’s going to take me out for 6-8 weeks, so unfortunately I’m going to miss some footy over that time, but it’s all good,” he said.

“Like life, you get knocked down but you just gotta keep moving forward. Thanks for all the love and the messages. Keep supporting our Hurricanes, fam, and I’ll be back. Peace out.”
