- 1631
With the European Champions Cup back this weekend and we thought we would take a closer look at how the French teams are fairing in the competition as we head into round three.
Toulouse and Racing 92 – Pool Leaders.
Stade Toulousain, who are second in the Top 14, is in Pool 1 alongside Bath, Wasps and Irish giants Leinster this season. The French side has won two in a row and one of those victories was against the reigning champions, Leinster which is one of the surprise results in the competition.
Racing 92 are also unbeaten in the competition at the moment and are leading a group which is being contested by Leicester Tiger, Ulster and Scarlets. They are currently the only French outfit with a try bonus point after their 44-12 win over the Ulstermen.

Castres Olympique and Montpellier – Will They Get Out The Group?
So Castres maybe a bit off the pace in the Top 14 but they not doing to bad in the Pool 2 which is extremely tight. The French side, who got drawn alongside Munster, Gloucester and Exeter, is placed second in their group and picked up a home win against the Chiefs.

Montpellier is in the same pool as Toulon but they in a slightly better position than them as they have won one of their two games. The Cistuses are paired with Newcastle Falcons and Edinburgh in Pool 5 and currently third one point behind the Scottish side.
Lyon and Toulon – Last In Their Pools
Both sides are without a win at this point in time and this weekend’s fixture will be crucial if they are wanting to go further in this competition.
Lyon has lost to Saracens away and Cardiff at home, while Toulon have lost to Edinburgh and the Newcastle Falcons until now.
