How the returning Irish squad members fared
- 1587
Rory Scannell
Rory Scannell was brought off the bench early in the second half and was provided with a real chance to impress and make a push to be added to the six nations squad. However, in an overall poor team performance by Munster, Scannell spent a majority of his time on the pitch idle on the wing. He made his tackles when required but was unable to contribute anything significant in an attacking sense.
Tommy O’Donnell
Tommy O’Donnell was another one who came off the bench looking to catch the eye of Joe Schmidt. He made a good impact putting in a lot of big tackles in defence and carrying powerfully. He was a menace at the breakdown and time and time again he got in over the ball to cause Edinburgh problems. No doubt Schmidt will have been impressed with his work.
Dave Kilcoyne
Kilcoyne came off the bench after just 30 minutes to solve a scrum problem for Munster who were being dominated up front. He made an immediate impact, anchoring the Munster scrum and causing the Edinburgh front rows a host of problems. He was also effective around the park, carrying powerfully and making some important hits in defence.
