HIGHLIGHTS: Super Rugby Round 9: Hurricanes v Chiefs
- 1967
An important win for the Hurricanes as they move into top spot in the New Zealand conference for the time being. It was a tight first half with Ben Lam's try the only thing really separating the two sides at halftime with the Hurricanes leading 10-6. The Hurricanes come outing flying in the second half with Beauden Barrett pouncing on a poor pass by Sean Weanui, before grubbering the ball around Brodie Retallick and was just quick enough to beat the big man to the ball over the line. Minutes later the Hurricanes worked their way into the Chiefs half and Beauden Barrett sent a pinpoint cross field kick to Laumape who grabbed the ball in the air before bundling over the line. The Chiefs finally broke through the Hurricanes defence 13 minutes later when Lachlan Boshier received a lovely pass by Charlie Ngatai to score in the corner. The Chiefs fought hard from there to try snatch the win from the Hurricanes but it wasn't to be as Jordie Barrett converted a long range penalty in the final minute of the game. Full Time: Hurricanes 25-13 Chiefs.
