The Waratahs moved back to the top of the Australian Conference in a 15 try thriller as they defeated their arch rivals the Reds 52-41 in round 16 of Super Rugby. The Waratahs ran in four first half tries to three to take a 28-19 lead into the break. Two early second half Waratahs tries saw the visitors take control of the match at 40-19. The Reds fought back with two tries in quick succession to reduce the deficit to just 11 points at 40-29 heading into the final quarter. The sea-saw battle continued as the Waratahs went over for two tries to extend their advantage to 52-29. The pendulum swung back in the Reds favour in the final ten minutes as the hosts crossed for the final two scores to deny the Waratahs the bonus point.
