An incredible second half fight back by the Waratahs saw them edge the Highlanders 30-23 in the quarter-finals of Super Rugby. Two early penalties to one gave the Waratahs a 6-3 lead. It was all Highlanders thereafter, as the visitors ran in two tries and slotted a further two penalties to take a comfortable 23-6 lead into the break. The turning point in the match occurred 10 minutes into the second half as the Highlanders picked up a yellow card, with the Waratahs capitalizing fully to run in three tries during the next ten minutes to surge into a 27-23 lead. The Waratahs made it a seven point ball game with a penalty with 10 minutes remaining which would ultimately seal the victory. The Waratahs will face the winner of the Lions v Jaguares in the semi-finals.
