Great Bath/Gloucester Derbies
- 1098
After a thrilling West country Derby that ended in a draw we look back at the last 5 Premiership clashes between Bath and Gloucester.
There is no such thing as home ground advantage in this fixture with just 1 home winner in the last 5 games.
01 Oct 16 - Gloucester Rugby 6-15 Bath Rugby:
Just 2 tries in this clash with Matt Banahan and Anthony Watson getting over the white wash late in the second half. I tightly contested affair for most of the game both sides struggled to get into a rhythm. The final try was scored off a solid scrum with Kahn Fotuali'i breaking and putting Banahan away in the 74th minute.
30 Apr 17 – Bath Rugby 44-20 Gloucester Rugby:
The only home win in the last 5 derbies and it was a comprehensive one for Bath as they rocked the Rec with a 6 try crushing of the enemy. Taulupe Faletau scored a hat trick on the day while Jonny May scored a brace for Gloucester. Faletau's tries came in the 27th, 71st & 76th minute with the first one setting the tone as the Welshman collected a great chip from Fotuali'i to run in and score.
29 Oct 17 – Bath Rugby 21-22 Gloucester Rugby:
If the Rec were hoping for a thriller they sure got it but it was the Gloucester fans celebrating after the TMO awards a match winning Slater try way after the hooter, in the 86th minute. Bath scored what seemed to be the winner on the 76th minute when Semesa Rokoduguni went over and Rhys Priestland converted but Owen Williams slotted the match winning kick after the Ed Slater try to silence the home crowd.
28 Apr 18 – Gloucester Rugby 20-43 Bath Rugby:
Bath certainly know how to score big in these Derbies and got their revenge for the earlier season defeat at home by scoring 6 tries at Kingsholm. Priestland, Dunn, Brew, Homer, Vuna & Wilson all scored as the visitors racked up 43 points just before the full time whistle.
08 Sep 18 - Bath Rugby 31-31 Gloucester Rugby:
In a cruel twist of irony Bath had the win taken away by a man who has scored 100 tries for them and is considered a legend of the club. Matt Banahan scored a try in the 79th minute off a brilliant Danny Cipriani pass to bring Gloucester within 2 points of the draw and Billy Twelvetrees slotted the conversion to send both sides away with a draw.
