The Fiji Rugby Union (FRU) is thrilled to announce the historic schedule for the Fiji Water Flying Fijians as they prepare to host three powerhouse nations during the July window of the inaugural Nations Championship.
In a groundbreaking development for Fijian rugby, the team’s “home” fixtures will take fans on a unique journey across the Northern Hemisphere, featuring clashes against Wales, England, and Scotland.
The highly anticipated series kicks off on 4th July, as Fiji faces Wales at Cardiff City Stadium. This will be followed by a monumental encounter on 11th July, when Fiji hosts England at Hill Dickinson Stadium. The series concludes on 18th July, with a clash against Scotland at the legendary Murrayfield Stadium.
This distinctive schedule offers a powerful platform to showcase the Flying Fijians’ flair on some of rugby’s biggest stages while celebrating the deep-rooted connections between Fiji and these rugby-loving nations.
Fiji Rugby Board Chairman Mr John Sanday shared that a new chapter in the history of the FIJI Water Flying Fijians will be celebrated when they kick-off their match against Wales in July. Sanday said: “We anticipate a packed stadium on the 4th of July when Fiji takes on Wales at the Cardiff City Stadium, a venue with a capacity of 32,500.”
The following week, history will be made as Fiji hosts England. Fiji’s home ground for this stadium is Hill Dickson Stadium while the final home match for the Flying Fijians on UK soil is against Scotland at Murrayfield Stadium.
“For our second home match, we move forward with pride, purpose, and belief,” Chairman Sanday added.
“For our third home game on 18 July, we step into one of rugby’s most iconic arenas; Murrayfield Stadium, to face Scotland in a rivalry that has tested us for more than four decades,” Mr. Sanday reflected.
The Fiji Rugby Union views these fixtures as a vital part of the team’s preparation and growth, providing invaluable experience against top-tier opposition in high-pressure environments.
The matches are a testament to Fiji’s standing in the global rugby community and their commitment to the new Nations Championship structure.
