European Champions Cup Preview: Pool 5
- 1500
Pool 5 looks to be a three horse race with Racing Metro top of the pool with 8 points from two games with Northampton Saints and The Ospreys in 2nd with 5 points. Italian side Treviso complete the group with zero points from the opening two games.
Ospreys welcome Pool leaders Racing Metro to The Liberty Stadium on Saturday looking to banish the memories of their game away to The Saints in round two with George North going over the whitewash four times. As for Racing they may have won their opening two games but their performances could of been better. They can count themselves lucky to have beaten the Saints with Ken Pisi dropping the ball just as he was about to touch down at a crucial stage of the game and from there they were able to close down out the game. They also struggled against Treviso in what was a scrappy affair where they did enough to win the game but failed to pick up a 4 try bonus point.
In the other game in the pool Northampton Saints travel to Italy to take on Treviso. After their defeat to Racing in round one The Saints will know that a win against Treviso is a must while also doing their best to pick up a 4 try bonus point that will go a long way to securing a quarter final spot. Treviso go into the game without a single win all season in the league and in Europe and with confidence low in the camp it will be a big opportunity for The Saints to come away from the game with 5 points.
