European Challenge Cup Preview - Pool 4.
- 1166
It’s a three horse race in pool 4 with Edinburgh on top with 8 points closely followed by Bordeaux Begles on 6 points and Lyon with 5 points. London Welsh complete the group with the English side on Zero points having not won a single game all season in all competition. It does not get any easier for the Aviva Premiership side with the first of two games to come against Edinburgh with the Scottish side looking to further cement their place at the top of the pool.
After impressive wins over French sides Bordeaux and Lyon Edinburgh will look for nothing less than two wins against London Welsh starting with a win at Murrayfield on Sunday. London Welsh have had a nightmare start to the season and at the moment look set for relegation from the Aviva Premiership after suffering some heavy defeats with only one point to show from 9 league games this season. In pool 4 they performed well in Lyon only losing by 10 points but were brought back to earth after suffering a hammering at the hands of Bordeaux.
The other game in pool 4 is an all French affair with Bordeaux Begles at home to Lyon. Bordeaux Begles have enjoyed a great start to the season but go into this game on the back of a defeat to Oyonnax after letting slip a 10 point lead. As for Lyon they moved off the the bottom with an impressive win over Montpellier. Both these sides suffered defeats at the hands of Edinburgh and with the Scottish side facing London Welsh they will know they can’t afford to slip up if they are going to have any chance of topping the group.
