The Rugby Football Union (RFU) has announced another exciting fixture for England Men’s A side, following on from the previous outing against Portugal in February.
England A will take on an Australia A on Sunday 17th November 2024, hosted at The Twickenham Stoop with a 14:00 GMT kick-off.
England A’s last fixture resulted in a 91-5 victory over Portugal, and featured players capped at senior level including Fin Baxter, Charlie Ewels, Harry Randall, Tom Pearson and Joe Heyes alongside some of the brightest young talent in the Gallagher Premiership.
The England A side provides a platform for players transitioning from the Gallagher Premiership and pathway at U20 level to the senior men’s team.
A coaching team involving personnel from across the Premiership and England Rugby will be chosen by the RFU in consultation with Premiership Rugby, with the selection of the match day 23 determined by senior men’s head coach, Steve Borthwick, and RFU Executive Director of Performance, Conor O’Shea.
“We are delighted to confirm this fixture for England A,” Conor O’Shea said.
“England A is a great platform for the country’s next best players to showcase what they can do while representing the country. It gives Steve Borthwick and his staff the chance to see players outside of their club environment, and the players the opportunity to impress.
“A fixture against an Australia A side will pit our players against really tough opposition, and work continues on to secure more playing time for the A team in the near future. We are looking forward to taking England A to The Stoop for what I’m sure will be a great game of rugby!”
