End of the collaboration between Gurthrö Steenkamp and Stade Rochelais

By mutual agreement, Stade Rochelais and Gurthrö Steenkamp have decided to end their collaboration. Having joined the club in 2021, the former South African international prop left his mark during the four seasons he spent on the Atlantic coast.

Alongside the staff led by Ronan O'Gara, Gurthrö Steenkamp has greatly contributed to the performances of the La Rochelle pack, which has become a benchmark on the European scene. His expertise and high standards played a decisive role in the two Champions Cup titles won in 2022 and 2023 , historic moments for the Club and for the entire Yellow and Black community. He has also contributed enormously to our U21 team and our Academy players throughout these seasons.

Beyond the results, Gurthrö has been able to transmit his passion , his values and his experience to the entire group, in particular to our forwards. Proof of this is the rise to power of Alexandre Kaddouri, Louis Penverne and Aleksandre Kuntelia , who have each discovered the high level under his orders.

Stade Rochelais would like to warmly thank Gurthrö for his dedication and hard work over the past four seasons. We wish him the best for the rest of his career, both on and off the pitch.
