Emily Chancellor returns from the UK & Japan to join the NSW Waratah’s Women for their 2024 Super Rugby W (SRW) campaign.
Chancellor debuted for the club in 2019 and went on to play four seasons in the Sky Blue. She parted ways with the club at the end of the 2022 season, leaving with three SRW titles, 19 caps, and four tries.
Chancellor moved to the UK to play for the Harlequins in the Allianz Premier 15s, alongside fellow Waratahs and Wallaroos, Arabella McKenzie and Kaitlan Leaney.
Chancellor would then return to the Wallaroos to join her squad for the Pacific Four & WXV1 Series. After a successful campaign, the 32-year-old decided to join fellow Waratah Brianna Hoy and take on a new challenge in Japan.
Chancellor will be in red-hot form coming into the 2024 SRW season and will be pushing for selection in this Saturday’s clash against the Reds in Roma, QLD.
Head Coach Mike Ruthven praised Chancellor’s world-class performances on the field and her standing as a role model off the field.
“Emily is a class act with a huge appetite for performance and success," Ruthven said.
"She has positioned herself in the upper echelon of world-class forwards and her impact both on and off the field will be significant.
"Emily’s recent experience playing in Japan will give our group a different perspective on the game and we look forward to how that might influence our group."
