Dragons close in on New Zealand rugby star to replace Aaron Wainwright

The Dragons are closing in on a replacement for departing Wales No. 8 Aaron Wainwright, with Northlands back-row Terrell Peita in line to sign for the Welsh club.

Peita, who is currently part of the Auckland Blues' Super Rugby squad, is understood to be closing in on a move to Rodney Parade for next season. Capable of playing across the back-row, the 25-year-old would fill the boots of Dragons talisman Wainwright.

Wainwright, who was one of Wales' standout performers in the recent Six Nations, will leave the Men of Gwent next season after nearly a decade in the first team.

The 28-year-old will join Leicester Tigers next season, having turned down a contract offer in favour of a fresh challenge in the Gallagher Prem.
