Crusaders cross swords with old enemy, Brumbies

Fans will be licking their lips at the prospect of two of Super Rugby’s oldest foes crossing swords once more. 

The Brumbies travel to Christchurch to take on Scott Robertson’s Crusaders. The men in red & black enjoyed their 5th Super Rugby title in a row recently after they were crowned 2021 Super Rugby Aotearoa champions.  

The Brumbies tasted the bitterest of defeats when the Reds downed them after the hooter in the Super Rugby AU final in Brisbane last weekend. 

Despite their wonderful rivalry in the earlier years of Super Rugby, the Crusaders have pulled away in recent times. Of the last 10 encounters, the Brumbies have won only one – in 2009.  

The last time they clashed was in 2019, where the Crusaders enjoyed a comfortable, 36-14 victory.
