Canadian Tyler Ardron signs for the Chiefs

The Chiefs have signed versatile back-rower Tyler Ardron for the next Super Rugby season.

Ardron will become the first Canadian player to play for a New Zealand Super Rugby franchise and has likely been brought in to cover Michael Leitch.

The 25-year-old currently plies his trade for Welsh Pro 12 club Ospreys who confirmed his departure earlier this week.

Ardron is capable of playing in the second row or across the back of the scrum which is where he'll likely fit in, particularly with Liam Messam set to depart next season.

He made his test debut in 2012 and has made 22 appearances for Canada including captaining the side at the 2015 Rugby World Cup. He's also set to captain the side in the upcoming Rugby World Cup qualifiers against the USA.
