Brumbies sign Mees Erasmus

The Brumbies have announced the signing of South African born prop Mees Erasmus on an EPS [Extended Playing Squad] contract for 2018.
A student of Hooerskool Ben Viljoen in the remote region of Limopo, Erasmus was drafted into the Natal Sharks U21’s squad upon finishing his schooling, the front rower eventually graduating through to the side’s Vodacom Cup side.
Erasmus joins the Brumbies after two years in Perth with the Western Force as part of their ‘Future Force’ development squad.
Despite suffering injury setbacks during his time in Western Australia Erasmus impressed coaches, the 23-year old putting in memorable performances at the World Club Tens where his barnstorming runs went viral and turned him into an online sensation.
Brumbies coach Dan McKellar said Erasmus would add good depth to an already promising Brumbies front row.
“Mees is a highly rated young prop with a bright future ahead of him,” McKellar commented.
“He has an excellent skill-set, is a physical ball carrier and is very dynamic for a front-rower. We have some top-class props at the Brumbies and Mees will be a good addition to our squad for the 2018 season.”
