Munster
Munster demolished the Southern Kings last night 68-3 in an embarrassingly one-sided game at Irish Independent Park.
Munster amassed ten tries to the Kings’ zero, the latter’s only points coming from a single penalty kick.
Munster number 8 Arno Botha scored a hat-trick for his side who dominated their opposition in all spheres of play.
Munster now ascend to first place in the B-conference while the Kings are sitting at the bottom of the table.
Leinster
A depleted Leinster squad were still strong enough to defeat the Cheetahs 36-12 in Dublin last night.
Leinster were not visibly bothered by the difficult conditions and manufactured a total of five tries courtesy of Will Connors (2), Michael Bent, Ronan Kelleher, Rhys Ruddock.
The victory takes Leinster to an impressive 11 straight victories and they now enjoy a healthy 16 point cushion on top of Conference A.
Connacht
Connacht out-classed the Cardiff Blues at The Sportsground on Saturday night.
Connacht’s set-piece work was sharp, stealing three of the Blues’ line-outs in the first half alone, and they took full advantage of all-too-often sub-standard tackling to build a score of 29 to the Blues’ zero.
Tries came from Dave Hefferman, who also bagged the man-of-the-match award, Peter Robb, John Porch and Kyle Godwin.
Connacht now find themselves in fourth place on the Conference B table.
Ulster
A rain-soaked Liberty Stadium saw Ospreys hold out for a two-point victory over Ulster in a tightly contested match.
Ulster fought hard in the second half to shrink a thirteen-point deficit and had a chance to snatch victory at the death before Bill Johnson’s drop goal attempt was charged down by Aled Davies, leaving the final score at 26-24.
Ulster’s three tries came courtesy of Robert Baloucoune, Matt Faddes and Stuart McCloskey.
