Beauden Barrett drop goal downs Brumbies

The Blues defeated the Brumbies with a drop goal after the siren to win by two points, 21-19.

It was an arm wrestle from beginning to end and the Brumbies were much improved in the second half in both their scrum play and their discipline. The Blues were contained well from playing their usual fast, running game and were put to the test at the breakdown.

It was Beauden Barrett who slotted a drop goal after the fulltime siren for the Blues to steal a famous Super Rugby Pacific victory from the Brumbies in Canberra.

The Blues have now won a club record of 12 straight matches and have extended their lead on top of the standings.

The Australians looked to have secured the win after Billy Pollard's try and Noah Lolesio's clutch conversion with 70 seconds to play.

However, Barrett would have the final say despite The Brumbies won the ball from the restart. The hosts lost possession and the All Blacks playmaker Barrett went on to slot the winner.
