Zach Mercer's breakthrough season at Bath Rugby could end on a high if he wins a national award. The 19-year-old back-rower has been shortlisted alongside Ellis Genge (Leicester Tigers), Alex Lozowski (Saracens), Joe Marchant (Harlequins) and Ross Moriarty (Gloucester) for the RPA Young Player of the Year gong. The trophy is in memory of Harlequins and England scrum-half Nick Duncombe, who died in 2003 from a rare form of blood poisoning, aged 21.
