Australian players accept 30% pay cut

According to Skysports.com, it is reported that Australian rugby players have accepted a 30% pay cut which will last until the end of September.

Rob Clarke, chief executive of Rugby Australia said:

"Australians all around the country are currently facing an incredibly difficult economic environment and rugby is certainly no different.

"The professional players have acknowledged the important role they play in ensuring the future health of rugby in Australia and I thank them for their cooperation throughout this negotiation, to ensure the competition starts this coming Friday night."


The first round of Super Rugby AU kicks off on Friday evening when the Reds host the Waratahs. The domestic competition will be on the go for the next 12 weeks and will quench the thirst of Australian rugby fans.
