Argentina Lose Herrera
- 1851
Argentina have been rocked by the news that
premier tighthead prop Ramiro Herrera requires knee surgery only weeks ahead of
the Rugby World Cup.
Los Pumas are already without the services of Juan Figallo, one of their best players at the 2011 edition of the tournament.
Herrera’s impressive form during the 2014 Rugby Championship when Figallo was out injured indicated that Argentina possessed great depth in the front row.
However losing both of their premier tighthead options would leave head coach Daniel Hourcade in a tricky position.
Martin Bustos Moyano is another option for the number three shirt currently sidelined through injury.
Argentina’s reliance on the power of their scrum during Test matches means that their run of injuries have come at the worst possible time.
The South American side have lost their first two matches of the Rugby Championship to New Zealand and Australia.
