All Blacks Player Ratings v Australia - Bledisloe III
- 4269
New Zealand cruised to a Bledisloe Cup clean sweep in 2021 thanks to a 38-21 victory over Australia in Perth, despite the first-half dismissal of Jordie Barrett.
Here is how we rated the All Blacks in their third victory over the Wallabies this year.
1. George Bower - 6
Gave the Wallabies a few headaches at scrum time. Solid around the park.
Won a turnover, solid on defence and carried twice.
2. Codie Taylor - 5
A failed HIA cut his game short. Made his tackles, won a turnover and was sound at the set-piece.
3. Nepo Laulala - 7
Busy around the park making seven tackles and five carries. Made good metres from his carries and was strong in the scrum.
4. Brodie Retallick - 7
A massive shift around the park. Third on the tackle count for the All Blacks and was superb at the breakdown. Building to his best.
5. Scott Barrett - 6.5
Bettered Retallick's tackle count but was picked off by Samu Kerevi in the build up to one of the Wallabies' tries.
6. Akira Ioane - 9
Made a massive claim to be the long term starting blindside flanker. Outstanding with ball in hand assisting two tries.
He was just as good on defence and made more running metres than any other forward.
7. Dalton Papalii - 6
A quieter performance after a standout game last time out. Made his tackles and won a turnover. Solid without being outstanding.
8. Ardie Savea - 6
His game was cut short due to a head knock but the All Black captain against the Wallabies put in a business shift in just under 40 minutes.
His 10 tackles was just four off of the game high by Michael Hooper while he also managed 10 metres from his three carries.
9. Brad Weber - 6
Some wayward passes but his tempo suited this encounter. Missed a hit on McDermott for the Wallabies first try but linked up well for Jordie Barrett's score.
10. Beauden Barrett - 7
A 50% kicking success will keep Barrett up at night but the All Black first five mixed his attack well. His kicking out of hand was excellent.
He varied his kicks well off his left and right foot and defended well to force errors from the Wallabies. Not quite the statement to try usurp Richie Mo'unga out of the starting role but strong game nonetheless.
11. Rieko Ioane - 8
Superb on attack making 90 running metres as he continued to be a huge threat to the Wallabies defence. He also made an excellent try-saving tackle on Tom Banks.
He made four clean breaks too. Another standout game from the All Black speedster.
12. David Havili - 8
Grabbed another try in the All Black jumper as he attempts to nail down the starting #12 jersey. Won a nice turnover at the breakdown and defended his channel well.
13. Anton Lienert-Brown - 7
A solid shift in his return from injury. Great on defence and while he made a small amount running metres, he took his chance to score well.
14. Will Jordan - 6
Defended nicely denying Marika Koroibete a score. He supported Akira Ioane well to grab yet another five-pointer.
15. Jordie Barrett - 3
A good support line lead to him scoring the opening try for the All Blacks but his game was cut short after a boot to the face of Marika Koroibete while catching the ball.
RESERVES:
Samisoni Taukei’aho - 7
Continues to make the most of his chances. Strong on defence and accurate at lineout time.
Karl Tu’inukuafe - 5
A quiet impact albeit a solid one from the loosehead.
Angus Ta’avao - 5
Pinged a few times but made an impact on defence making seven tackles.
Tupou Vaa’i - 4
Beaten by Samu in the build up to Nic White's try. Got 18 minutes and didn't make too much of it.
Ethan Blackadder - 7
A busy performance replacing Savea before the break. Made 10 tackles but was just as impactful on attack making carries and linking up well.
TJ Perenara - 7.5
A great intercept and super cross-kick led to a try for George Bridge. Over 50 running metres in 26 minutes in a really energetic performance.
Damian McKenzie - 6
Regularly broke through the Wallabies defence after replacing the red-carded Jordie Barrett. A real threat on attack but missed his two shots at goal.
George Bridge - 6
Made the most of his 10 minutes on the park. Worked hard to get into position to finish off the chance created by Perenara.
