All Black Player Ratings v Ireland
- 5553
An emphatic performance from Ireland saw them overwhelm New Zealand in Dublin and earn a memorable victory.
Here is how we rated Ian Foster's men in defeat.
15 Jordie Barrett - 6
Solid under the high ball while having few moments to really trouble the Ireland defence.
14 Will Jordan - 7.5
A moment of brilliance looked to put the All Blacks back in the running for a come from behind victory as he chipped over the defence before receiving the ball from Ioane to score.
Solid in the other facets of the game. Outstanding how easy he has made the step up to Test rugby look.
13 Rieko Ioane - 6
Outplayed by Ringrose throughout the 80 minutes. He had standout moments on attack including the chase and pass to Will Jordan for the youngster to score. His forward pass to Akira Ioane disallowed meant that a crucial try was ruled out.
12 Anton Lienert-Brown - 6
Had little to do on attack as Ireland dominated possession while he was on the pitch. However, Lienert-Brown was brilliant on defence charging up to make hits. He made all of his 11 tackles in his 39 minutes before he was forced off.
11 Sevu Reece - 5
Made a massive 13 tackles but was wasteful with ball in hand throwing two bad passes that killed off attacks. Conway also caused him all sorts of trouble under the high ball.
10 Beauden Barrett - 5
Forced off the pitch after just 22 minutes with a head knock and didn't return. Ireland dominated possession in the opening half hour meaning Barrett spent his shift defending with just seven touches, five of which were kicks.
9 TJ Perenara - 6
Defended well making all eight of his attempted tackles but the lack of attacking ball New Zealand had meant Perenara couldn't spark the attack into life.
His passing was sharp when they did have the ball.
1 Joe Moody - 5
Bettered in the scrum by Furlong but was handy on defence making a massive 17 tackles.
2 Codie Taylor - 4
Taylor ran a good line off of Papali'i to score his try but a yellow card and a missed tackle that led to a try for Doris means that it was far from a fine outing for the hooker.
3 Nepo Laulala - 4
Had a handling error that led to Doris' try while he struggled against Porter in the set pieces. Like Moody, he had a big shift on defence making 16 tackles.
4 Brodie Retallick - 5
Struggled to get front foot ball with his carries while he spent most of the game tackling Green jerseys. Noticeably frustrated by the officials and far from his best.
5 Sam Whitelock - 6.5
Whitelock ran the lineout relatively well with the throws letting his side down on occasion.
He was one of the busiest men on the pitch making 24 tackles.
One of the All Blacks' best in defeat.
6 Ethan Blackadder - 6
Worked tirelessly on defence making 20 tackles but he was outplayed by Doris.
7 Dalton Papalii - 8
The best All Black at the Aviva. He sent Taylor away to score a try and was the top tackler with 28! He won a turnover too and was all over the pitch in a tirelessly 80-minute shift.
8 Ardie Savea - 6
Ireland managed to keep the in-form no.8 quiet. He was busy getting a number of touches with ball in hand but he was unable to find a hole in the Irish defence. He was defensively sound and managed a turnover.
