USA Eagles captain AJ MacGinty will miss the test matches against England and Ireland due to injury.
Following Sale Sharks’ final round of the Premiership regular season against Exeter Chiefs, the club’s medical team provided an update on the long-term injuries sustained by flyhalf AJ MacGinty and flanker Cameron Neild.
The club confirmed that the fly-half suffered a meniscus (knee) injury in the final minute of Sale Sharks’ match at Sandy Park. MacGinty had a successful surgery during the week in order to begin his rehabilitation as soon as possible and has an estimated recovery period of 6-8 weeks.
The injury means that the USA captain will miss the tests against England and Ireland but may well be fit in the early stages of the 2021/22 Premiership season.
Meanwhile, flanker Cameron Neild left the field after suffering an injury to his Medial knee ligament in the 8th minute of the match and is expected to be out for the remainder of the season. His estimated recovery period is circa 8-12 weeks.
