It was a big weekend for women’s rugby with a total of four Test matches playing out as the World Cup inches nearer.
AUS vs NZ:
After a promising start by the Wallaroos, the Black Ferns came from behind to take the match 22-12.
Despite the loss, it was a great improvement from the Aussies after they took a 52-5 beating last weekend.
Scotland vs USA:
The Scots looked as if they would make the game their own until the final quarter when the USA surged to create a 21-17 victory.
The home side enjoyed a perfect start with a score from Chloe Rollie but the Americans stuck to their guns and clawed their way back for the win.
Japan vs Ireland:
Japan bounced back and managed to topple a powerful Irish side 29-10.
Ireland drew first blood with an early try courtesy of Ailsa Hughes but it was clear from early on that Japan meant business and drew level in the 16th minute and their momentum borne out of industrious work in contact and at the breakdown carried them through.
Canada vs Wales:
The Welsh were on the receiving end of a fiery Canadian performance which saw that latter triumph 31-3 in the end.
Tries from Paige Farries (2), Fabiola Forteza, Maddy Grant and Justine Pelletier secured the victory as the Canada were dominant from the get-go and will be strong contenders at the World Cup.
